Press Start on Tour

Impressions from GG Bavaria, Caggtus Leipzig, Baltic Games Fest and Indie Game Fest Cologne.

Since the start of the year, Press Start and its studio founders have been travelling extensively across Germany. The tour kicked off from 6 to 8 March at GG Bavaria in Munich, where visitors were able to try out five games from the programme. In addition, a panel of grant holders provided insights into the game developers’ founding journey. Press Start then stopped off at Caggtus in Leipzig from 17 to 19 April with eight games, where the game Monarchs at Play secured a nomination at Find Your Next Game.

There was also a chance to win awards on 24 and 25 April at the Baltic Games Fest, where Press Start was not only represented with a total of twelve titles and a panel, but also saw three awards presented to grant holding teams. Garden Ink won Best Game, Night Errand secured the Special Prize from the State of Schleswig-Holstein, and Forefeathers won the Audience Award. The event-packed spring season concluded from 8 to 10 May with the Indie Game Fest in Cologne, in which ten Press Start titles took part.

The Foundation for Digital Games Culture

The Foundation for Digital Games Culture is an ambassador for games. Since its establishment in 2012, it has been building bridges between the world of games and social and political institutions in Germany. The non-profit foundation, which operates nationwide, is the result of an initiative by the German Bundestag and the German games industry. Partners from education, society, youth protection, culture, media, politics, education, administration and science are involved in its projects, events and studies. An equally broad-based advisory board ensures its targeted, independent and transparent work. The foundation’s shareholder is game – the German Games Industry Association. Our members represent the entire video game ecosystem, from development studios and publishers to esports event organisers, educational institutions and other related entities. We are co-organisers of gamescom, the world’s biggest event for computer and video games.
